7.04 install problem

Looking forward to 7.04.  I grabbed the code from svn tonight and did a fresh install.  There's an error in the .sql file, the line

INSERT INTO `sys_localization_languages` VALUES(1, 'en', 'gb', 'English')

is commented out, so it's never inserted, so the site won't load (localization fails).

Glad to see that you've included APC!

Will you be able to fix the profiler module bug before the 7.04 release?  I'm also hoping you'll upgrade to the latest stable version of JQuery, FirePHP, etc., seems a shame not to take advantage of using the latest versions.

I think he was just testing the latest code from the repository, and not using it on his production site.

So BoonEx should do ALL the testing, and then just release it when it's all done?

No, I think it'd be better if MORE people downloaded, tested and gave feedback on the code.  UFO's comments and LOL's seem pretty immature.

We all need to test and give clear, precise feedback to the developers if we want this product to be the best it can be.

@UFO: 10 days ago you wrote "I hope Dolphin 7.0.4 don't have bugs".

Instead of hoping, why don't you download the code, run it, and report any bugs you find?

Thank you for the testing.

Language file is automatically created during installation. You don't need to uncomment this line in installation sql file, since this part is performed automatically.

We test Dolphin installation script several times on different OS's upon every alpha/beta/release, so it maybe that the problem in server's configuration. Can not tell the exact problem, but please try to check permissions for sure.

Also we are using the latest JQuery from 1.3.x branch.

The svn install at the time I did this did not work.  It had nothing to do with permissions.  It was unrelated to server configuration, just like my previous bug about backslashes showing up before quotes had nothing to do with server configuration, as someone had suggested.

The software will not improve if you keep asserting that errors reported are due to the user or their configuration.  Trust me -- there aren't that many steps to installing this, and the install did not work.

Fortunately, but the time 7.04beta came out, this was working.  Unfortunately, it is maddeningly difficult to track what's working and what's not working because the beta forum still shows bugs from a year ago, a previous version, which may or may not still be exhibiting the bad (as I see it) behavior.

You have a lot of people who want to help make this a better product.  I don't know why you don't close out the old beta forum -- close it, lock it, even delete it, and say "as of Nov 21, 2010, we want to hear about the new bugs".  Instead, your top message in that forum is "Don't post bugs here".

PS The current version of jQuery is 1.4.4.  I realize you're using an outdated one, from Feb 2009.  I'll repeat my request that you update to the newer library during the beta period.

"Dolphin Betas And RCs" is for Beta products - so this forum is still actual for beta testing of 7.0.4 beta and future beta versions.

We have to use jQuery 1.3.x branch because of some possible incompatibilities of 1.4.x version, when we switched from jQuery 1.2.x to 1.3.x we have to rewrite some javascript functionality (most of them are in admin builders), but we will definitely update jQuery version in the future.
