I might regret this later down the road but for the time being I just restored the previous wall module from 7.0.4. Seems like if the module was upgraded then there should have been some configuration options available for it in the admin side.
What really bothers me though is that there was no response at all from anyone on this even after 4 days. Not even a post from anyone who didn't have a clue. I think this is the first time in 15 years for me that I posted something to what is supposed to be a community that tries to help each other and improve things and I didn't get a single response, To make it even more unsettling is that it wasn't just one post I had here but 3! None of which have had an kind of answer.
I may have just registered here a few weeks ago, but I have been visiting the site and forums for over 17 months now. I looked at Dolphin back then and even downloaded it and did a full install. After a week of taking it apart and trying to adapt it I decided to wait until it matured some. The road map for 7 looked promising so I decided to wait. Fast forward 16 months now and I thought it was ready enough for my needs so I download, put it on a new dedicated server, set everything up and 2 weeks later buy the unlimited license. Things seem to be good. I don't mind at all paying a fair price for a decent product and even have other purchases planned.
What I do find disturbing though, especially for what seems to be the best and most advanced community software (that doesn't belong to ning, fb or ms) is that this seems to be one of the most dysfunctional communities I have ever been in! Instead of the people helping others here and helping to evolve social sites on the internet (which btw would boost sales for everyone) I see the fasted responses to questions are mainly to the posts that flame something or someone or even better yet try to solicit payment services. That's not a community! I'm not bashing the people that are developers here and trying to sell their products. I've been a retailer way too long to not know that you have to give the customer the time and help they need to not only buy your product but to come back for more. You make that one customer happy and they will bring you ten more. It won't hurt a bit to give up a few minutes and make a post or write up a sticky. That 10 minutes spent will do nothing but better your reputation and out of every 100 people at least 1 person is going to be a buying customer. Instead I see posts that have never had a response and others that it may be days to weeks before their are any replies.
Instead, I came back again this afternoon and I find 1 post that apparently was a flame against either Boonex, Dolphin or the forums (can't tell which one or all of the above) and within 90 minutes there are 16 replies. The first one within 6 minutes no less! I guess that proves that there are people coming her after all. And before anyone criticizes me for not reading the entire post I'm referring to, No, I don't waste my time on bickering, I have better things to do with my time. I didn't come here to watch a contest of words. More importantly I came here to find help with a product I purchased! Who knows, one day I may be giving some of you answers to your questions!
Andrew, I've seen scattered throughout the forums here that you do on occasion come here and at times offer a solution so I know you do read some things here. My opinion is that you need to rethink some things here as far as turning this place into what it needs to be. After all, isn't being a community what this software is about? Seems ironic if you ask me.
I know some of you out there are going to take offense at my post but at least I have my long winded .02 worth in. No offense to any individual here is intended. I just think that this being a community product that we need to be more of a community.
