Hello, I'm having a heck of a time trying to change these link colors.
I have the Hypernova template, and I'm trying to adjust the link colors in the home page...
1). For the life of me I can't get these fonts, and the fonts of the drop-down boxes they spawn - to change colors. I want these fonts bright red, but I'd maybe like the drop down boxes themselves to be a different color also. If not - no biggie
2). There's also a square frame around each word that I can't seem to get rid of.. how do I turn the frame off, or change it's color if I decide to keep it?
3). How do I get rid of "Boonex News" that appears on my pre-login page?
4). I don't think I want that "Search" box at the top of the screen, how do I disable that or change it's border & bakgnd?
5). How do I put a white background and red border around the (profile / account / login) / ----( join/login) ) box?
6). I found some directions on boonev.com that said to chmod the Hypernova files to 755... does that go for only the folders? or everything inside them also?
I think that's it for now. I know it's a lot, but the directions are sparse at best. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1, 2, 4, 5 - use an element inspector such as Firebug for Firefox, or the default one that comes with firefox, chrome, or safari. Right click on one of the Nav links and choose Inspect Element. You can play around with the css code without actually making changes to the site itself. Make sure that you turn off all caching, so that way you can see exactly what page and line that your changes need to be made to.
3 - Admin - Settings - Advanced Settings - General - Enable BoonEx News in Admin - to remove from admin section, and Builders - Pages Builder - Homepage - drag BoonEx News block to Inactive area

Thank you very much kind sir :) I did get the news to disappear (I would have been forever trying to figure that out, since I'd already deactivated it's checkbox, but not removed the field) - nice catch!
I have already worn that poor little firebug out, but it didn't help with those menu links. I did still get the colors to change on that home page (completely by accident).. I think those links are apparently listed under "Top Menu" - not "Links" - weird smh. How come hi-end-expensive software like this doesn't come with a fully detailed color manual to explain every aspect of the program like they used to back in the day. smh. You could take those giant manuals, use the index to find your problem, and within a few months have the thing mastered.
Anyway, thanks again - hopefully I can muddle thru the rest from here :) Take care. Prof

How come hi-end-expensive software like this doesn't come with a fully detailed color manual to explain every aspect of the program like they used to back in the day. Even if it did. Your not running the default template. So that kinda kills the idea of a manual that shows you where everthing is. Every template is different. The css, the html, where everything is located, ect.
You have a custom template. We can only provide accurate information for what is known to us and that we have access to. And that is the default files that come with dolphin. Once you start running 3'rd party stuff we can't help because we can't see it. https://www.deanbassett.com |
If you've installed everything correctly, Hypernova provides a module- a Hypernova customization area in the admin panel. This customization tool cover almost every aspect of dolphin you can think of, including the Navigation menus, fonts, drop-down fonts and backgrounds...almost everything. It's probably the most customizable template there is on the market. By that I mean- most customizable from the admin panel without having to manually edit the files.
I've worked with this template for quite a few months and have had a blast with it! I've also got in there and done some manual edits...I've also helped another webmaster design his site with it. He wanted to go beyond what the customization tools offered for customizing his Navigation Menu, so that's possible too.
One word of advice- USE FIREFOX in the admin panel when customizing.
Se if this helps, and if not, I will be happy to get you squared away....Will need to know your website address to take a look.
You can PM me if ya like.....HyperNova is a piece of cake.

Here are some screenshots to show you some of what is possible....
The first is a site with HyperNova...Its menus partially use HyperNova tools but many manual edits too...

The next is one of my demo sites which is all HyperNova

The next is the HyperNova admin panel customization tool showing the area where Navigation sub-menu is manipulated

The next shows what happens if you use Chrome browser-----not so good huh?

The next is another HyperNova example using the HyperNova Tools AND manually editing CSS files...

So you can see that Hyper-Nova makes it possible to do quite a few different looks, but I'm wondering if you used a browser other than FireFox and some of your settings kept getting reset? Maybe?
Another thought is whether there is something going on with javascript causing your menu customizations not to load as expected...I've had that happen.

That is an impressive tool, it is not just a template, it is a site design tool.
Question UnderDog, does it have an export tool for the design? It would be nice if one could use it on a test site first to design the site and then be able to export the design and import it into the production site.
Geeks, making the world a better place |
That's a really good idea there GG.....
I wish we could do that.... It's definitely worth mentioning to MasterTheme!
For my site, I did everything on my demo site, then opened 2 browsers and copied everything over one by one...
That's also when I found out that Chrome can totally screw everything up too!
But your right- MasterTheme has done a pretty impressive job with this design, and offer it for such a fair price- $49-$59 I think

I would not buy this module without an export tool; that is just too many items to copy. Also, your mention of javascript issues has me concerned as well.

The javascript issue I seen was isolated to another 3rd-Party module that was from 7.0.9....Once I updated it to work on 7.1+ everything worked perfectly fine.
I still feel no other Template offers more bang for your buck, and probably always will until other template designers offer some thing like a site design tool as these guys have. I've only seen one other template that does- Nanbargal Community which is also a responsive design. I like HyperNova better because it also makes it possible to easily set different page backgrounds and page headers for all the dolphin modules as well as multiple randomly changing backgrounds (for both headers and pages) for the same page/module if one wishes. I use 3 different randomly changing backgrounds for my site at the moment and a different background for my photo module.
As far as the time to copy setting: 3-5 minutes or less....but it would still be nice to have an export tool, yet I wouldn't let something that minor stop me from buying it knowing all the other benefits now.

I guess I could take the site down while copying. How is all this saved; in a database table? If so, then I could use phpMyAdmin to export the table and then import it to the production site.

Yeah, there's a database table that holds all the settings, so you could do that :)

BTW- Have you noticed that they also included examples to show you what effect a particular field change will have?

They also include a an Installation page that covers quite a bit and explains how to set different page headers and backgrounds among other things.
MasterTheme are also the most helpful vendors I've ever done business with...and very patient too. Give them a shout, they'll be happy to get you fixed right up.
