3rd party modules and more than 1 domain

I think that it is strange that when i buy modules i have only rights for 1 domain.
when i have a 2nd domain i have to buy it again or a 2nd license that costs the same. I find it weird and a easy way to get more money out of us.

This should be different... don't you agree?

No not at all.. They spent a lot of time making some of this plugins. Some of them do not care if you put it on more domains but then some do. You might want to ask them if there is a discount if you want to put a mod on more then one domain.

Again some are money hungry and want full price for you to use it on another domain. Just a chance you take. You will know the good ones from the bad..

I think they have the right to charge whatever they feel is appropriate. They can spend a good amount of time coding a mod and then supporting it and then updating it.  I doubt any of them are getting rich enough to retire. Well, maybe Modzzz..... but he must work 24/7 just to update all the mods he has on the market.

I believe that some vendors would discount for multiple sites. You could always ask. Although you could also wait until xmas, new years, valentine, 4th of July etc.

You could hire a coder for $15- 20 USD per hour to develop some mods. Then that would be costly, but you can put it on as many sites as you like.

Don't get me wrong here... i understand that it costs money and lots of time to make a good module.
And yes i mite start making my own mods.

Most commercial software says, "one computer only" and if you want to put the software on a second computer you must buy a second copy/license.  That is the norm and I don't think Boonex developers should be any different.

No i don't agree. As GG pointed out. Most commercial software purchased for your computer is to be used on one computer only. This is no different. This is how most software is. And it is industry norms.

Two or three copies of something doesn't really justify a quantity discount.  If you were developing dozens of sites for clients and used the same mod on all of them, that might be something that warranted a quantity discount.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

GG, i know that is the norm but why hold on to that. Let's break the standard..
I develop software and I use a license for the software i sell but not for the number of installations.
my clients are very happy with that and even that i make less money that way i feel that's the right way.

I make it up with my monthly SLA 's

The majority of the modules in the market are low priced and thus don't make sense to offer multiple domain discounts.  The discounts would only make sense if someone was buying a few thousand licenses.
