2000 plus visitors a day

Can anyone tell me if they have a website running dolphin that gets 2000PLUS visitors a day? I am running dolphin and I get a lot of traffic and was wondering if I am going to have problems??? I have seen a few things on the web saying that BOONEX/DOLPHIN is a bad investment, but I dont know what to think. So far I have NOT had any problems, but I would like to see a working site that is doing well and make my own mind up before I spend anymore money. Thanks for any input with this issue...

BTW, im on a dedicated box

No problems here. Also on dedicated servers that have been optimised using the recommendations on this site. In fact with version 7.0.5 things are even better than before and multiple users and guests is no problem.

I wish I could get 100 members joining my site much less 2000/day. LOL

what's your website?

We have clients with thousands of users online on their website at a time. The stability depends on the how the server is configured and the health of server.

For some clients, we have provided complex setups with our optimized setups that make it work like a charm. So, it all depends on your server, your website and configurations.

yes normally you should not be a problem if your server is configured, the storage space / bandwidth is not saturated it should go

You must mean thousands of users online each day, not at the same time.  There is no way you could handle thousands of users online at the same time.  I have a quad core dedicated server with 8GB Ram and LiteSpeed (absolutely necessary) serving only one Dolphin site, and it slows down dramatically when there is over 90/100 members online at a time.  And this is after my server has been optimized for Dolphin 7.   Thousands a day...yeah that's no problem.

Of course since upgrading my site to 7.0.5 nothing is working anyway, so it doesn't matter what kind of server I have.  So even if your server can handle all your members, you'll likely get killed at the next upgrade.  Do I sound bitter?  Absolutely I am.

Well, if that is the case how do sites like facebook, myspace or any halfway popular site run? they have not only thousands on at a time but tens of thousands. Could Dolphn handle that???

Well I for one am tired of people here claiming to either have sites or service sites that have millions of members.

If you know of a Dolphin site that is successfully able to handle thousands of members online at the same time, please tell us the site.

Oh wait, we just have to take your word for it....you need to protect the identity of this site or your client.  Okay, well then pardon me if I don't believe you.

I'm sorry, but I am not a man of faith.  I am a man of science.  I demand evidence before I can believe.  Otherwise...whatever.

Seriously? Your site currently has 4 members online out of the 96290 total and it took 45secs to load Chat. After exiting Chat I clicked on the logo to return to the main page and I waited 40secs. The server spec you outline, along with LiteSpeed and optimization really should be handling those tasks with the current member load in 4secs or below. I think when you get your 7.0.5 installation ironed out you'll notice significant improvements, but I'd really look into whether your server is so powerful, or at least whether the optimizations have been completed satisfactorily.

Wow…my server isn't quite those specs and my site doesn't take 40 seconds to load. You may have some optimization issues JasonVan

Praveenkv1988…some good pricing on dolphin hosting. Some members should have a look at your site and jump on that.

First of all, I am using flashcoms integrated chat script on my site.  My site is first of all a chat site.  Now members can log into the chat without showing up as being online in Dolphin script.  I still get as many as 80 - 100 members in my chat at night (it is a late night chat site).

Second, if you are saying my site is a total piece of crap right now, then I would actually agree with you 100%.  This site was doing awesome.  It was #3 for Chat Rooms, Singles Chat, Chat Site, etc. and was averaging about 3,500 visitors a day and over 500 new members a day.  However, right now it sucks!  The site is a huge ugly mess, and nothing is working properly.  However, I do hope to one day return!

As for taking 45 seconds to load, I think this is a bit odd.  According to my Google Webmaster tools, pages in my site take an average of 7- 8 seconds to load (although still slower than 92% of sites on the web.).  This has been pretty consistent for the last few years.
