"Say Something" function

I am in the process of simplifying a site to get it more "MVP-ish'.    It is always so hard to get interaction on Dolphin sites so i looks at what similar sites in the industry were using.    One who was using another platform had a nice setup where the first thing a user would see after registering - or maybe even before, was a block for them to type and the instructions "say something" which people could comment on.   This then created a stream of interaction that was a little self-sustaining.

What would be the best way to implement such functionality in Dolphin - would that be done with a blog post?  Something with the wall?  That status thing? - or some other module?     This is for a 7.0.9 site but I think the issues are the same.   Has anyone done anything like this?

Here is the site i mentioned that got me thinking of this - http://parlour.fgpress.com/  - is that just a wall function?  What would be the best way to replicate on a Dolphin site?

The link you posted did not allow to view what you are trying to illustrate.  Perhaps some screenshots.

So instead of the current redirection after a join, it takes them to a "wall" where they can post a comment and others can post additional comments to that comment?

Sorry GG - try this link http://hub.startuprev.com/.   I guess that probably is just a "wall".   Funny, in all the time i have been using Dolphin that is the one feature I haven't used much so I don't even know much about it.   I just installed Anton's mod that allows it to be put on the homepage, but that is just to display the posts - it doesn't allow you to post anything.   The "post block' is in a curious place - on the profile - why would anyone even look there for it?   Is there anyway to move that block?  - then some interesting things might be possible.   I guess i am talking about something that everyone here already knows about.

I am just looking at any way to make immediate engagement with the toolset we have.
