"Access Denied" isn't very helpful...

Hello at Boonex and everyone,

the "access denied" message isn't very helpful at all. People think they don't have the rights to access the page (e.g. a photo when their limit is reached) but they do NOT know that they should buy a paid membership (for example). We could help that a little bit by adding a javascript that redirects people to the shopping cart or signup page.

Same with the page access function, it is nice to have one, that was a good step in the right direction. But HOW do people know there is hidden content they can't access? Workaround: make two boxes, one with the content and hide that for standard members, one with a text that explains what they are missing here and hide it for paid memberships.

So pretty please Boonex, change that so we can monetize our communities better. In the end it won't be your loss as we can spend more money to improve the communities.

I did, we used the javascript before and fine-tuned it by that post.

Problem is still, if someone runs into a limit it doesn't apply. And doesn't help for hidden content boxes either.

Remember, all the language for warnings, not allowed (no matter module) places, you can't do that...

Those are all language keys which can be found and changed.

Perhaps a screenshot would help too.

I have a question, are there language keys for each type of "Access Denied"  This is an area that I have not really looked into.  For example, if the denied is based on membership level, is that sent to an "Access Denied" language key specific to that or is it a generic one for more than one "Access Denied"?

Maybe, maybe not.  First of all, I really don't know how this is handled.  However, let's look at how we would want it to be handled.  An exception is tripped; say standard membership is not allowed to upload photos when a member clicks on uploading photos.  A variable is passed to the bozo checker which indicates that a person with standard membership tried to upload a photo.  Instead of just saying "Access Denied"; since we know what tripped the bozo checker, we can say, "Standard memberships are not allowed to upload photos; please upgrade your membership if you wish to upload photos"
